Project Description
Located in the heart of Mission Bay, the five-story, 232,000-square-foot lab research building, focusing on cardiovascular disease, provides administration, common and meeting areas on the first floor; open labs with flexible enclosed support areas and offices spaces on the three middle floors; and a vivarium on the top floor. The building’s architecture facilitates, encourages, and enhances the principles of collaboration and efficiency—cornerstones of success in research. ҹɫè 20 faculty offices are clustered on each floor with flexible lab space accommodating nearly 500 graduate students, post-doctoral scientists and other researchers. This collaborative center brings basic research scientists and clinicians together under the same roof, thus accelerating their efforts to understand cardiovascular diseases. It houses the world-renowned UCSF Cardiovascular Research Institute and the UCSF Center for Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease, and includes an outpatient facility focused on advancing ways to predict and prevent these devastating illnesses. This project achieved LEED Gold NC certification.
